RIVERHEAD/Selden man arraigned on heroin charge
The Selden man accused of causing a fatal accident that claimed two Connetquot High School students' lives was arraigned on a grand jury indictment on an unrelated heroin possession charge Thursday at county court in Riverhead.
David Heise, 28, was arrested Aug. 9 when investigators pulled over the car he was riding in on the Long Island Expressway near Exit 49 and found a hundred bags of heroin stashed in his underwear, and more than 50 Valium pills in the car, prosecutors said. He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Suffolk County Judge James F.X. Doyle ordered Heise held on bail of $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond. His next court date on the heroin possession charge is Sept. 27.
Heise was arrested while he was out on $25,000 bail following an April 10 fatal crash that killed two teenagers.
