FREEPORT/Police arrest two, confiscate marijuana

Narcotics detectives arrested two Freeport brothers and confiscated about 15 pounds of marijuana, police said yesterday.

The marijuana has a street value of about $5,000 per pound, or a total value of about $75,000 according to Det. Sgt. Michael Beaubian of the Nassau narcotics squad.

Thomas D. Micciulli, 23, of 288 Park Ave., and Joseph J. Micciulli, 26, of 684 Miller Ave., were both charged with first- degree criminal possession of marijuana and second-degree possession of marijuana.

NEW CASSEL/1 shot in robbery try at Chinese restaurant

A counterman at a Chinese restaurant in New Cassel was shot by an assailant who approached the register, demanded money and then fired at the employee when he refused to hand over the cash.

Nassau County police said the shooting occurred just after 10 p.m. Monday at the China King restaurant on Prospect Avenue.

The victim was counting money in the register when the male suspect pulled out a handgun.

The employee was shot once in the abdomen and was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was admitted in stable condition, police said. His condition was not immediately available last night.

Police said the suspect fled without getting any cash and was last seen headed north on Magnolia Avenue.
