ELMONT/Elmont man charged with burglarizing homes

A man has been arrested and charged with burglarizing homes in Elmont in February and March, police said Tuesday.

Robert Covelli, 47, of Elmont Road, was arrested Monday, police said. The Elmont man has been charged with four counts of second-degree burglary, Nassau County police said.

Between Feb. 12 and March 30, police said, Covelli broke into homes on Oak Street, 109th Avenue, Sterling Road and Blackstone Street.

He gained entry by breaking the glass on side doors or basement windows, police said, then stole assorted jewelry, police said.

The burglaries occurred on Feb. 12, March 18 and March 30, according to police.

EAST PATCHOGUE/Suspect charged with robbery of pharmacy

The Ridge man entered the pharmacy in East Patchogue wearing a mask and displayed what appeared to be a handgun, then he demanded drugs and fled with OxyContin pills, police said.

But Adam Davis, 26, of Brittany Court, Ridge, didn't get far after robbing the LightHouse Pharmacy on Montauk Highway Monday at 10 a.m., Suffolk County police said.

A pharmacy employee chased Davis, tackled him, and when a struggle ensued police officers Patrick Ryan, Robert Landgrover and Michael Campbell jumped in and subdued and arrested Davis, police said.

Davis was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, possession of counterfeit bills and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.

Police said they found an imitation pistol at the scene and recovered the pills, which Davis had in his possession when he was arrested.

DEER PARK/Prostitution charges for 3 women at area massage parlor

Four Queens women were arrested - three of them on prostitution charges - after a search warrant was executed at a massage parlor in Deer Park, police said Tuesday.

Three of the women - ages 32, 36 and 46, all from Flushing - were charged with prostitution. The other, identified as Chun Zi Lu, 48, of 136-43 37th Ave. in Flushing, was charged with second-degree criminal nuisance, Suffolk County police said.

Police said the raid occurred Monday at 3 p.m. after detectives received tips from local business owners that prostitution was being promoted at the Acupuncture Body Works parlor on Deer Park Avenue.
