ROCKVILLE CENTRE/Nursing doctorate at Molloy

To help meet the demand for highly trained nurses, Molloy College will start offering a doctoral program in nursing this fall.

The curriculum will focus on theory, research, the humanities and methodology. The school says the doctorate - the first offered by Molloy - will prepare nurses for leadership jobs in academia, health policy, administration and clinical practice.

The first group, which will be part time, is expected to finish in about four years.

An independent Catholic college based in Rockville Centre, Molloy graduates about 260 students with bachelor's degrees every year. The nursing doctorate took five years to plan, said Drew Bogner, the college president.
