COUNCIL MEETING. The Glen Cove City Council meets Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. to consider federal funding for construction of the Glen Cove ferry terminal building. Follow reporter Mackenzie Rigg’s Twitter updates: @mackrigg.
TODAY IN NY HISTORY
On this date in 1714, a highway in the Bronx -- later renamed East 233rd Street -- was laid out. In 1778, the Iroquois Indians killed 40 people in New York in the Cherry Valley Massacre and on this date exactly 68 years ago that the Knicks played their first game at Madison Square Garden. (They lost 78-68 to the Chicago Stags.)
TRAFFIC AND TRANSIT
NY 25A. Construction on NY 25A has closed the right westbound and eastbound lanes between Glen Cove Road and Route 101.
ROUTE 24. Paving operations are taking place on Route 24 westbound after Sunrise Highway/Route 27 and at CR-63.
PATCHOGUE-HOLBROOK ROAD. Construction work is taking place on both the northbound and southbound sides at the Long Island Expressway.
ROUTE 347. There is construction work on the eastbound side between Route 111 and Mount Pleasant Road.
The LIRR is operating on time or close to schedule.
WEATHER
Tuesday will be mostly cloudy in the morning, then overcast with a 20 percent chance of rain throughout the day. Tuesday's high should hit 63 degrees with a low of 54.
