Dave Widmer, a veteran radio executive on Long Island and general manager of Long Island Radio Group, is certain that the pending sale of the group's four stations by Barnstable Broadcasting to Connoisseur Media will yield good results for listeners and advertisers. What it will mean for the group's 55 to 60 full-time employees, he can't say.

Newton, Mass.-based Barnstable is selling WKJY/98.3 FM, WBZO/103 FM, WIGX/94.3 FM and WHLI/1100 AM to Connoisseur for $23 million, pending approval by the Federal Communications Commission.

"People get scared of change," Widmer said Tuesday. "Change can sometimes be a very good thing. . . . But it is way too soon to get into individual employees" and their future with the company. Widmer knows this much: He will be remaining as the group's GM.
