It seems it's a good week for United Way's YouthBuild Long Island.

The organization that provides a green-job training program for at-risk youth in Deer Park will be receiving not only $10,000 from Pennsylvania-based Power Home Remodeling, but also $1.1 million from the U.S. Department of Labor, according to Sen. Charles Schumer (D-New York). Schumer said the money will support YouthBuild Long Island's career training lab in Deer Park.

The lab says it prepares young people for green-collar job opportunities in weatherization, Energy-Star construction, home performance, energy efficiency, and renewables. YouthBuild offers training for low-income youths ages 18 to 24.
