Long Island hospital executives, doctors, medical experts and breast cancer survivors are expected to gather at the Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage Friday for what is billed as one of the largest such summits of its kind on the Island to explore changes in pending health care legislation and other issues related to the illness.

Danielle Orsino, a spokeswoman for the event that is sponsored by hospitals and the Garden City-based Long Island Plastic Surgical Group, said 400 people have signed up and more are expected. The event is free. Representatives of more than 20 breast cancer organizations on the Island and the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, Winthrop-University Hospital and South Nassau Communities Hospital will be on hand.

Panels of experts, hospital executives and cancer specialists will discuss innovative treatments and services. State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) and U.S. Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-Mineola), will talk about changes in state and federal legislation.
