The Long Island Association had invited both Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum to address the association's membership before the New York State Republican primary April 24.
That was before Santorum dropped out of the race for the GOP presidential nomination on Tuesday.
But the LIA is still planning the event, minus Santorum, a former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, said spokesman Matt Cohen.
"We still have an invite out there" to Romney, "and it's pending," Cohen said.
"We'd be extremely pleased if he attended. We never envisioned it as a debate anyway," he said.
