After weeks of back-and-forth, Long Island Association president Kevin Law says he has nailed down appearances on Long Island by the two main candidates for the Republican presidential nomination.

Law says he has heard from the camps of Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum and that both are willing to make an appearance on the Island. The LIA and the candidates' handlers are now just trying to agree on a date.

The New York State GOP primary is April 24, with 95 delegates at stake.

Law said the appearance by the two will not be a debate.

Instead, it will be a discussion of the issues. Generally at such events, Law solicits questions from LIA members beforehand and selects some to ask and then throws in some of his own.

Both Presidents Bush have come before the LIA, as has Bill Clinton and various New York City mayors and sports figures.
