An overturned tractor-trailer closed the westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway this morning, creating a traffic snarl before the heavy morning rush.
The incident has since been resolved, according to the Department of Transportation's website.
The accident occurred at 3:40 a.m. near Exit 29, where traffic was being diverted onto Springfield Boulevard. Drivers were allowed back on the expressway at Exit 27, the website reported. One eastbound lane also was closed between Exit 27 and Exit 29 to assist with the cleanup.
The truck was carrying scrap metal, according to reports by News 12 Long Island and NBC.
There was no word on whether anyone was injured in the accident.
