Lindenhurst raises building permit fees

The Village of Lindenhurst is raising its building permit fees.
The village board approved the increase during a meeting last week. The fees for both residential and commercial construction will now be $100 for the first $1,000 of construction costs and $15 for each additional $1,000. Fees had been $45 for the first $1,000 and $10 for each additional $1,000.
Village Mayor Thomas Brennan said the increase puts the village’s fees in line with other local municipalities.
In neighboring Amityville, the fee for for residential buildings is $100 on the first $1,000 of construction costs and $15 for each additional $1,000. Commercial rates in the village were unavailable Monday.
In Babylon Village, for residential, the fee for the first $1,000 in construction costs is $50 and each additional $1,000 is $6; for commercial buildings, the fee for the first $1,000 in construction is $120 and each additional $1,000 is $20.
The Town of Babylon charges $25 for the first $1,000 of construction and $6 for each additional $1,000 for both residential and commercial buildings, along with a $20 certificate of occupancy fee.
