Lindenhurst residents to vote on library budget
Lindenhurst Memorial Library will be holding a special voter registration day on Saturday in advance of the annual budget vote and trustee election.
Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A special budget information meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the library’s community room. The budget vote and trustee election will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on April 12.
The library says total revenue and expenditures for the 2011-2012 budget will be $4,364,521, an increase of $88,921 over last year’s $4,275,600.
The budget reduces spending on materials and programs from $500,000 to $425,000, and total library operations drops from $336,100 to $309,000.
Spending on building operations is reduced from $266,000 to $250,000. Categories with increases include capital expenditures, up from $10,000 to $155,000, and salaries and benefits, from $3,163,500 to $3,225,421.
Incumbent trustee Garry Biggs is running unopposed for a five-year term.
