Lindenhurst School Voters Guide 2010
VOTING
6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Lindenhurst Middle School, Albany Avenue Elementary, William Rall Elementary, Edward W. Bower Elementary and Daniel Street Elementary.
THE BUDGET
The district is proposing a budget of $137,091,637 for the 2010-11 school year, an increase of 0.49 percent from the current budget of $136,423,092. The tax levy would rise 3.87 percent to $81,214,390 from the current levy of $78,184,968.
The average homeowner with a house assessed at $4,000 would pay $7,242, a 3.87 percent increase from the current $6,972.
The proposed budget includes an increase of 6 percent for teacher salaries. The budget also calls for reduction of 42.8 teachers, three noninstructional positions and one administrative position, which is an open position that is being frozen.
Eliminated in the budget are summer school, intramurals and computer replacements.

Incumbents Raymond Doran, Edward Langone and Robert R. Vitiello are running unopposed for seats with three-year terms.
