The Village of Lindenhurst tomorrow is celebrating Earth Day with efforts to prevent contaminated runoff from flowing into the Great South Bay.

Fabco Industries, of Farmingdale, has volunteered to install a storm basin filtering system on Hartford Street in the village. The system will filter out toxins and pollutants that flow into Feller’s Pond and eventually make their way to the Great South Bay, said Doug Madlon, village deputy clerk.

A dedication ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. at Hartford and Charles streets. Fabco’s Jeff Fullmer will talk about how residents and municipalities can work together.

In related news, Lindenhurst has declared April 27 Arbor Day in the village. Last month, the village was chosen for the 28th time as a “Tree City USA” by the Arbor Day Foundation.
