Lindenhurst Village has purchased land from Suffolk County with the aim of using it for a public park.

The village approved the purchase at Tuesday night’s board meeting. The parcel, which measures 20 feet by 57 feet, was bought for $2,214.62. The property, which had been abandoned, is at the end of a canal near Bayview Avenue East and adjoins another small piece of land already owned by the village, said Administrator Clerk-Treasurer Shawn Cullinane.

The purchased land is unsuitable for building and will be used as public park space, Cullinane said. The purchase was funded through the village’s Dedicated Neighborhood Funds Reserve.
