Ndamukong Suh provided the perfect exclamation point to the Detroit Lions' thrilling comeback in his return from a two-game suspension.

Matthew Stafford threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Calvin Johnson with 39 seconds left to cap a 98-yard scoring drive and Suh blocked a 65-yard field-goal attempt by Sebastian Janikowski to seal the visiting Lions' 28-27 win over the Raiders Sunday.

The Raiders appeared in control of the game when Aaron Curry returned a fumble 6 yards for a touchdown to make it 27-14 with 7:47 left.

But Stafford engineered two long scoring drives in the final minutes to lift the Lions (9-5).

After the block, Suh threw his helmet and ran down the field in celebration, providing a loud finish to an otherwise quiet day for the defensive tackle in his first game back after serving a suspension for stepping on the right arm of Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith on Thanksgiving.

Until that point, the day belonged to Stafford and Johnson, who handed the Raiders (7-7) a crushing third straight loss to damage their playoff hopes.

Stafford, who threw four TD passes, completed nine passes for 214 yards to Johnson, including a 21-yarder and a 48-yarder on the winning drive, which started at the 2 with 2:14 left and the Lions out of timeouts. "He was due for one of those, and I'm glad it happened," Stafford said of Johnson, who made a 51-yard TD reception in the first quarter. "I'm just proud of our team . . . Guys rallied around each other, defense did a great job of getting us the ball back on offense, and we went down and put the dagger in there."

The Lions, who haven't made the playoffs since 1999, can wrap up a berth by winning one of their final two games. Detroit hosts San Diego on Saturday. "It's a dream scenario," defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch said. "Christmas Eve, we've got a home game. It would be nice. You couldn't write a better story. We're excited about this opportunity."

Chargers 34, Ravens 14

Philip Rivers reached the 4,000-yard mark for the fourth straight season and threw a TD pass, and Ryan Mathews ran for two TDs as host San Diego (7-7) won its third straight after a six-game skid to move a game behind Denver in the AFC West. The Ravens (10-4) earned a playoff berth before kickoff.

Saints 42, Vikings 20

Drew Brees was 32-for-40 for 412 yards and five TDs as visiting New Orleans (11-3) won its sixth straight to stay two games ahead of the Falcons in the NFC South. With two games left, Brees is 304 yards from breaking Dan Marino's single-season record for yards passing. The Vikes are 2-12.

Seahawks 38, Bears 14

Red Bryant returned an interception 20 yards for the go-ahead TD as visiting Seattle (7-7) kept its faint playoff hopes alive. Chicago (7-7) lost its fourth straight.

Panthers 28, Texans 13

Cam Newton threw two TD passes as visiting Carolina (5-9) ended a seven-game winning streak by Houston (10-4).

Cardinals 20, Browns 17

Jay Feely's 22-yard field goal in overtime won it for host Arizona (7-7), which has won six of seven. It was the Cardinals' third overtime win in seven games. The Browns are 4-10.

Dolphins 30, Bills 23

Reggie Bush ran for a career-best 203 yards and a TD as visiting Miami (5-9) won in Dolphins interim coach Todd Bowles' first game. Buffalo (5-9) has lost seven straight.

Bengals 20, Rams 13

Rookie A.J. Green had six catches and topped 1,000 yards as visiting Cincinnati (8-6) kept pace in the playoff race. Ex-Jet Kellen Clemens threw a TD pass for St. Louis (2-12). -- AP
