As crews continue to work to restore power to still thousands of Long Islanders, LIPA said in a statement Monday morning that chief executive Kevin Law will hold a news briefing at 1 p.m. to outline the storm damage to Long Island's electric system "and the steps LIPA is taking to restore all service as quickly as possible."

As of 11 a.m., 55,000 customers were still without power, down from a high of 241,000, according to a separate statement on LIPA's Web site.

"Long duration outages are expected to last into the early part of the upcoming week," the statement said.

To report an outage or for information, call 800-490-0075.

More to come.
