The Long Island Rail Road will add eight eastbound trains out of Penn Station Friday afternoon for customers heading home early in observance of Yom Kippur, the LIRR announced yesterday. Credit: Kevin P. Coughlin

The Long Island Rail Road will add eight eastbound trains out of Penn Station Friday afternoon for customers heading home early in observance of Yom Kippur, the LIRR announced Monday.

There will be three additional trains on the Babylon branch, three on the Port Jefferson branch, and one each on the Port Washington and Far Rockaway branches.

On the Babylon branch, the additional trains will depart at 2:32 p.m., 3 p.m. and 3:31 p.m. On the Huntington/Port Jefferson branch, the additional trains depart at 2:08, 2:29 and 3:24. An additional Port Washington branch train to Great Neck will leave at 3:40. And an additional Far Rockaway train will depart at 3:48.
