If you’re planning to take the Long Island Rail Road on Sunday between 2 a.m. and noon and need a ticket, bring cash or your checkbook.

The LIRR issued a notice to riders to plan ahead for a planned systemwide network upgrade. During that time, credit and debit card ticket sales will be unavailable from ticket windows and machines.

Tickets will still be available for purchase, but with cash or check only, the notice states. The lower fares normally charged at stations will be honored onboard for cash ticket purchases on trains.
