Lisa Americo, Scholar Artist for February 2012 - Suffolk

Lisa Americo, of Centereach High School, is the February Scholar Artist for Suffolk County
Lisa Americo is a pianist and violinist in Centereach High School’s music department. She participates in chamber orchestra, pit orchestra, jazz choir and jazz ensemble. Lisa has represented the Middle Country School District in NYSCAME All-County Festivals on both instruments and participates in Stony Brook’s Pre-College Music Program. Lisa’s skills have brought her memberships in the following honor societies: Tri-M, Thespian, Spanish, and the National Honor Society. She is also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and was recently elected as the Vice-President of Centereach’s Chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
Lisa, an AP Scholar, is in the top one percent of her class. She was nominated for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for countless volunteer hours in cardiology at Stony Brook University Medical Center. Lisa hopes to attend Stony Brook University in the fall to pursue a career in medicine and perform in the University orchestra.
