Student speaker
Sean Simensky, 22, of Locust Valley, valedictorian for the class of 2012, received a bachelor's degree in history. He told students: "In the coming years, some of us will go back to school, but whether your future education comes in a classroom, always keep an open mind to the power of knowledge."
Commencement address
LIU Post president David J. Steinberg told the graduates:
"Do not doubt the value of what you have now succeeded in doing at such great expense of personal treasure and energy. Your task is no less than to protect the values of our humane and plural society in an era of increasing rigidity and open assault."
