(AP) — An Austrian entrepreneur says Lindsay Lohan won't make it to Vienna's famous Opera Ball as his celebrity date after all.

Richard Lugner, a quirky 77-year-old who each year invites a different female star to the flashy gala, told The Associated Press on Thursday that Lohan wasn't coming.

He says he will take male German singer, producer and entertainer Dieter Bohlen instead.

The limelight-loving Lugner says he is still looking forward to the evening and that he had received many date offers from people who "felt sorry for him."

Lugner's comments came just hours before the start of the all-night extravaganza that attracts socialites, dignitaries and politicians. His recent dates include Nicollette Sheridan, Dita Von Teese and Paris Hilton.
