The City of Long Beach has begun to dispatch crews as part of its new seven-days-a-week boardwalk repair initiative.
The City Council, Public Works Department and Beach Maintenance Division have adjusted work schedules to incorporate boardwalk repair and maintenance from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. through September. The schedule adjustment will come at no extra cost to taxpayers because it will not result in overtime for workers, officials said.
Crews will be looking for popped, broken or missing boards. They also will work on ramps and paint bathrooms to improve the boardwalk and beach for patrons.
“We recognize the importance of taking a proactive approach, and that’s why we’ve launched this program,” City Council president Fran Adelson said in a news release.
A special email address, boardwalk@longbeachny.org, has been created to make it easier for residents to report a problem and have it addressed quickly.
For more information, contact the city at 516-431-1000.
