Peggy Fraser, a lifelong Long Beach resident and a 26-year city employee, was sworn in as its tax assessor Tuesday.
Fraser began her career as city cashier in the tax department, then served for 14 years in the city’s tax assessment department, where, in 2007, she was named its real property appraiser.
“Peggy's experience in the tax assessor's office along with her extensive coursework in this field, make her the perfect candidate for this position,” City Manager Charles T. Theofan said in a statement.
Fraser replaces former Tax Assessor Maureen Coyle, who retired at the end of last year.
