Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano has announced that the Long Beach International Film Festival, featuring “Shorts on the Beach,” will be held Thursday at Long Beach's Allegria Hotel. The festival will consist of a variety of short films and a sneak peek of the 2014 festival.

“My administration has helped attract the film industry to Nassau County, which is now generating more than $100 million a year for the local economy while putting residents back to work,” Mangano said in a statement.

Beginning at 7 p.m., the festival will showcase a live music performance and, at 8:30 p.m., a variety of short-film screenings.

The film festival will celebrate the art of storytelling through cinema, presenting shorts in fiction and documentary formats and conveying fresh voices and differing perspectives. Guests will have the opportunity to walk the red carpet at National Boulevard and the Boardwalk.

The evening will continue with an awards ceremony at the hotel, followed by an after-party on the hotel’s rooftop, beginning at 10:30 p.m.
