Yearly parking permits for the Long Island Rail Road parking garage in Long Beach, which are due to expire June 30, will be available for purchase starting Monday.

Permits cost $250 for Long Beach residents and $300 for non-residents. They are valid from July 1 through June 30, 2012.

Cash, check and credit cards (only Visa or MasterCard) will be accepted in person at the clerk’s office in Long Beach City Hall on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. After July 1, the office will be open until 4 p.m for the rest of the summer. Commuters are advised to bring a copy of their car registration.

To accommodate commuters, the clerk’s office will be open next Wednesday  from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on two more Wednesdays (June 22 and 29) from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Permits can also be obtained by mail. Send an application along with a check, a copy of the car registration and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the City of Long Beach, Attention: City Clerk - LIRR, 1 W. Chester St., Long Beach, NY 11561.

Applications for parking permits are available in the clerk's office or can be downloaded at www.longbeachny.org/cityclerk.
