Long Beach will hold a candlelight vigil Wednesday to mark the second anniversary of superstorm Sandy.

The vigil is set for 6:30 p.m. at Kennedy Plaza in front of City Hall at 1 W. Chester St. City officials will offer "safe flame" plastic candles to lead a walk to the boardwalk, rebuilt since it was battered by Sandy.

Residents and visitors may write their name or message on blue ribbons that will be tied to the boardwalk, signifying the recovery since the storm and remembering families who have not been able to return home, city officials said in a statement.

The West End Visual Arts Guild will unveil two panels of a boardwalk art project, a "Home Sweet Home" mural.

The Long Beach-based Gentle Brew company will also provide free hot chocolate and coffee.
