The City of Long Beach announced Wednesday that it will drop late fees and penalties for outstanding parking tickets that are paid in March.

The one-time parking ticket amnesty program runs from March 1 to March 31.

The city said amnesty notices are being mailed to the registered owners of vehicles that are recorded as having outstanding parking violations.

Payments must be made in full to take advantage of the program.

“By removing penalties and offering a convenient online payment system, we believe that motorists will make the decision to take responsibility for their debt," City Council Vice President Mona Goodman said in a news release.

To pay online, go to www.parkingticketpayment.com/longbeach. To pay by mail, send a certified check or a money order to: City Court of Long Beach, 1 West Chester St., Long Beach, NY 11561, Mailed payments should be postmarked no later than March 31, 2011.
