Nassau County/Bronx man accused in Great Neck, Garden City bank heists
A Bronx man who robbed banks in Great Neck and Garden City has been arrested, Nassau County police said yesterday.
James Pope, 35, of 721 Tinton Ave., is charged with third-degree robbery in a heist at a TD Bank branch in Great Neck on Feb. 4 and second-degree robbery in one at a TD Bank branch in Garden City on Jan. 30, robbery squad detectives said.
He was arrested without incident at 10:45 a.m. yesterday in Queens, police said.
No one was injured in the robberies, police said.

Roosevelt/Cops: Father who hit boy with belt had gun, drugs
A Roosevelt father struck his 7-year-old son with a belt during an arranged visitation and was in possession of drugs, a handgun and ammunition when authorities went to arrest him, Nassau County police said yesterday.
Malachi E. Campbell, 29, of 123 W. Roosevelt Ave., faces charges of second-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, the Special Victims Squad said.
Campbell struck his child with a belt after picking him up for a visitation on March 23, police said. The child was returned March 26 and had multiple bruises from being struck with a belt, police said.
Nassau police officers and a state parole officer investigated and found Campbell on Thursday at his residence, where he was arrested. A subsequent investigation led to police finding a .38 caliber revolver, two boxes of 9-mm ammunition, marijuana and methamphetamines at Campbell's residence, police said.
A second resident of the home, Rebbie Ann Faucet, 28,
was arrested on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
