Long Island Cares and state Sen. Charles Fuschillo Jr. (R-Merrick) are sponsoring a food and supplies drive to help families recovering from superstorm Sandy damage or otherwise in need.

The items that can be donated include macaroni and cheese, cereal, rice, pasta, canned vegetables, personal care items, diapers, new blankets, household cleaning supplies, paper goods, pet food, and new hats, gloves and socks.

These items can be dropped off at Fuschillo’s office at Suite 205 at 5550 Merrick Rd., Massapequa; Copiague Memorial Library at 50 Deauville Blvd., Freeport Memorial Library at 144 W. Merrick Rd., and Massapequa Public Library branches at 40 Harbour Lane, Massapequa Park; and 523 Central Ave., Massapequa.

All items collected will be turned over to Long Island Cares, which supplies more than 550 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other assistance organizations.
