This 1999 Syosset High School graduate's research into the "enzymatic production of hydrogen from sugar" got her through to the semifinal round of the 1998 Intel Science Talent Search.

Everybody turned in their Poison cassettes for Pearl Jam CDs, then traded their pint glasses at Boston's "Cheers" for coffee mugs at Manhattan "Friends" favorite Central Perk.

It was the '90s, a transitional decade both for society as a whole and some Long Island high school graduates who ended up finding fame.
