Crosstex, a Cantel Medical company, is donating 19 pallets of supplies to Haiti relief efforts through the Henry Schein Cares program. The pallets were put on their way to the earthqake disaster zone this week. In total, the Henry Schein Cares program is sending 190 pallets of supplies to Haiti. Long Island companies have joined the worldwide Haitian relief effort, sending money, supplies and pledges to match most employee contributions.

Medical equipment distributor Henry Schein Inc. of Melville earmarked $1 million in supplies and will match donations.

"We . . . are committed to quickly getting these essential medical relief supplies on the ground to those who need them," chief executive Stanley Bergman said.

National Grid is contributing $100,000 to the Red Cross.

"The shock and devastation of the earthquake is being felt around the world," said the company's U.S. president, Tom King.

Lake Success-based Canon Group pledged about $220,000.

"A tragedy of this magnitude requires support from the global community," Canon U.S.A. president Joe Adachi said.

Northrop Grumman Corp. will contribute up to $1 million - $500,000 to the Red Cross and another $500,000 to an employee-matching program.

Islandia-based software giant CA Inc. has targeted up to $200,000 -- $50,000 to the Red Cross and $150,000 in a match program.

CA senior vice president Bill Hughes said the company is setting up donation centers at its worldwide offices to collect food and clothing.

Bethpage Federal Credit Union has a relief fund at all 21 of its Long Island branches and will accept cash donations for the next two weeks. It will match all donations up to $5,000 and make an immediate $10,000 Red Cross donation.
