UNIONDALE/Cops: Man arrested for lies about shooting
A Uniondale man was arrested in his bed at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre after police said he accidentally shot himself, then lied about it.
Nassau County police said yesterday that Korio Thompson, 34, of 305 Pamlico Ave., was charged Monday with fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon and false written statement.
Police said Thompson claimed that he had been shot in the leg by "an unknown person." However, police said further investigation determined Thompson had lied about the shooting and had actually shot himself with his own handgun.
Tesa McNickle, 24, also of 305 Pamlico Ave., was charged with fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon and tampering with physical evidence after she placed the gun in her pocketbook "with the intent to conceal and dispose of it, knowing that the police were en route to her apartment to recover it," police said.
Police said Thompson will require surgery to remove the bullet, which is lodged in his leg.

Police said the 17-year-old is the second teen arrested in connection with the shooting, which was on Roquette Avenue in Elmont on Friday at 1:45 p.m.
Police said the teen and Jamel Washington, 18, "fired several gunshots at two victims in a car" on Roquette Avenue after an argument.
The victims fled in the vehicle and notified police. No one was injured.
Washington, of 42 Roquette Ave., was arrested at the scene Friday, police said. A handgun was recovered.
Washington and the teen are charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminal use of a firearm and two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment.

GLEN COVE/Police charge man with drug possession
Police said a Glen Cove man has been arrested and charged with drug possession after he was found standing outside a car used to transport a shooting victim to Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre.
William Diaz, 42, of 10 Margaret St., Glen Cove, was found to have "several plastic bags of crack cocaine," according to a police statement yesterday.
The car, a Volkswagen Passat, had a bullet hole in the rear passenger door and another in the front passenger window, Nassau County police said.
Police said it is unclear if Diaz was involved in the shooting and that an investigation is ongoing.
The victim, 39, apparently was shot on Sterling Place in Hempstead, according to police.
The man, whose identity has not been released, suffered a perforated bowel that required surgery and also had his appendix removed.
Police said the shooting took place at about 10:45 a.m.
Diaz was charged with third-degree and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
