Mitchell C. Shapiro of Great Neck has joined the firm of Carter Ledyard & Milburn in Manhattan as a partner in its litigation department. He was with Mitchell C. Shapiro Law Group in Manhattan.

Butch Yamali of Merrick has been elected president of the Freeport Educational Foundation. The foundation raises money to sponsor programs or initiative within the Freeport Public Schools to enhance the learning experience and success of the children of Freeport. He is president of the Dover Group in Freeport.

Maria Catherine Salamone of Smithtown has been promoted to client relations specialist at Prescription PR, a health care marketing company in Deer Park. She was previously an intern.
HEALTH
Ruchi Sharma of Manhattan joins the pain management team at Winthrop's Department of Anesthesiology in Mineola. She worked at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn.
