A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle early Friday, June 27, 2014, on Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square, Nassau County police said. A police spokesman had few details but said the pedestrian appeared to be at a bus stop between Franklin Avenue and Scherer Boulevard when struck shortly before 8 a.m. The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital, but the spokesman did not have details on injuries. LIRR CONTRACT TALKS BREAK OFF
