About 1,500 angry parents and educators packed Ward Melville High School last night to protest the controversial Common Core curriculum.

In the crossfire was State Education Commissioner John King, the man behind the new curriculum.

Long Islanders say they want him to scale back the testing, slow down the standards, and stop relying on scores that put stress on kids and teachers.

At the meeting, many said they were upset that 70 percent of state's students have failed the new tests and several kids now consider themselves failures.

Many people also complained about how controlled the forum was, which allowed only five pre-selected people to speak from 12 Suffolk County school districts.
