Long Island avoided a possible 8 inches of snow overnight, but up to 4 inches on top of Thursday's total made for a rough go of it early Friday morning.

All told, the area is looking at a total of 14 to 18 inches between Thursday and Friday.

Unfortuntely, the area isn't out of the woods on Saturday, with another 1 to 3 inches on the way. Check back often for the latest breaking news, traffic and weather alerts and train delays.
