Long Island Top 10 girls hoops rankings

1. St. Anthony’s (4-3): The Friars defeated Long Island Lutheran, 46-36, in the consolation game of the Slam Dunk Tournament in White Plains. Junior Chastity Taylor had 14 of her 21 points in the fourth quarter and added a career-high 19 rebounds. Senior Rebecca Musgrove scored her 1,000th career point. St. Anthony’s lost the first round to Ossining, 80-70.
2. Long Island Lutheran (6-2): The Crusaders lost to No. 1 St. Anthony’s 46-36 in the consolation game of the Slam Dunk Tournament in White Plains. Boogie Brozoski scored 14 points. Long Island Lutheran lost to Irvington in the first round, 59-58.
3. St. Mary’s (4-2): Mei-Lyn Bautista had 20 points and five assists and Jordan Augustus added 10 points and 10 rebounds in a 48-43 win over Sachem East in the Schanee Brown Bruins Holiday Tournament at Baldwin
4. Sachem East (4-1): Kathleen Everson scored 17 points in a 48-43 loss to No. 3 St. Mary’s.
5. Whitman (7-1): Whitman hasn’t played since Dec. 21. The Wildcats play at rival Northport on Friday.
6. St. John the Baptist (3-7): The Cougars have played a very tough schedule so far with losses to No. 1 St. Anthony’s and No. 3 St. Mary’s and nationally ranked Riverdale Baptist. They went 1-2 in the Bojangles Carolina Invitational in Charleston, S.C. last week and have played six games against non-Long Island teams.
7. Harborfields (7-1): The Tornadoes went 2-0 in the Suffolk Shootout at Northport. Kristen Kelly and Bridgit Ryan each had eight points and 12 rebounds in a 35-25 win over Longwood. Ryan had 24 points and 10 rebounds in a 53-47 win over Half Hollow Hills East.
8. Baldwin (4-1): Baldwin defeated North Babylon 52-46 in its own Schanee Brown Bruins Holiday Tournament. Mariah Butler had 14 points, six rebounds and five assists and Tyra Harrison added 14 points.
9. North Shore (6-1): Alexandra Cantwell had 12 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for North Shore in a 59-57 win over Uniondale in the North Shore Booster Club Tournament final. Caroline Robertson had 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists in an 83-54 win over Cold Spring Harbor in the semifinals.
10. Southampton (5-3): The defending Long Island Class B champions have tested themselves in non-league with a six-point loss to No. 5 Whitman, a 23-point loss to No. 2 Long Island Lutheran and a 12-point loss to No. 4 Sachem East.
