The storm that dropped snow -- nearly 2 inches in Nassau County and three in Suffolk -- rain and ice pellets on Long Island earlier today has passed, and the National Weather Service lifted its winter weather advisory a few hours earlier than expected.
That means this evening's commute should be much less eventful than originally anticipated.

WATER MAIN BREAKS
The Suffolk County Water Authority is reporting the following water main breaks.
-- BAY SHORE, Peck Avenue. Approximately 20 residences impacted.
-- COPIAGUE, Ferndale Court. About 34 residences affected.
-- ISLIP, Intersection of Harbor Avenue and Ocean Avenue. About 19 residences impacted.
-- PATCHOGUE, West 6th Street. Approximately 20 residences and two busiensses affected.
Customers in these affected areas could experience no water service, low water pressure, and discolored water for a period of time as crews work on repairs.
BABYLON HEARING ON DEVELOPMENT DEAL. Babylon officials plan to hold a public hearing today to discuss possibly rescinding a development deal for a notorious corner in North Amityville. The 3:30 p.m. hearing will be at Babylon Town Hall, 200 East Sunrise Hwy. in Lindenhurst. Follow Newsday reporter Denise Bonilla’s Twitter updates @denisebonilla.
