Lots for Geno to look forward to with joint practice
Geno Smith looks forward to competing against Tampa Bay this week and seeing Todd Bowles, Smith’s coach the last two years of his first go-around with the Jets.
“I've always had a high amount of respect for him and I think vice versa,” Smith said. “We were here together way back when, but it will be great just to connect with him again and talk to him and see how he's doing.”
Coaches and teammates have praised Smith during this camp for his leadership, focus, how he’s picked up the offense and is working to get on the same page with the Jets' skill players. The joint practices should be a good measuring stick for Smith and this group.
“I love football, so I look forward to every practice, but especially going against other guys,” Smith said. “I love to compete. No matter what situation it is, it's us against them. That's what we love the most. I look forward to those.”
