Four lucky people who bought tickets in New York State are $50,000 richer after winning third prize in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing but the big haul remained elusive, setting up a Monday jackpot of $1 billion, according to New York Lottery officials.

Monday’s jackpot is the fifth-largest in U.S. history. The biggest prize, a $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot, was won by three ticket holders in 2016.

A Florida ticket holder won $2 million by matching all five white balls. Six tickets, including two in California, two in Michigan, one in Maryland and one in Texas, won $1 million each.

Aminul Siddique, a cashier at Speedway in Plainview, said the store has seen an influx of people lining up for lotto tickets throughout the weekend and expects many more. “Lots of customers bought tickets,” he said. "Powerball, Powerball, Powerball … $10, $20, $100 in tickets.”

Siddique, 45, said in his three years working at the convenience store he has not seen a winner, but Monday, he said, might be the day.

The New York prizewinning tickets were purchased at The Shamrock House on Route 145 in East Durham, Roman Grocery Corp. on Bronxwood Avenue in the Bronx, Stewart's Shop on Route 32 in upstate Modena, and the Chestnut Mart on Saw Mill River Road in Yorktown Heights, officials said.

The winning tickets had four matching numbers and the Powerball. Nationwide there were 80 such tickets that won $50,000, according to Powerball.

Powerball winning numbers from Saturday's drawing were 19-31-40-46-57, with a Powerball number 23. Players can securely check their tickets on the New York Lottery app.

The winning numbers for the Powerball game are drawn from a field of 1 to 69. The Powerball number is drawn from a separate field 1 to of 26. The Powerball drawing is televised every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11 p.m.
