Powerball climbs to $415M; $1M ticket sold in Bay Shore

The Powerball grand prize shot to $415 million when no winning ticket was drawn Wednesday, state lottery officials said.
No one matched the numbers 30, 47, 57, 66, 69 and the Powerball of 3 on Wednesday, boosting the jackpot from $361.5 million. The Wednesday jackpot had gotten a slight bump from its initial $348 million because of better-than-expected ticket sales.
Two tickets nationwide did match Wednesday’s five numbers minus the Powerball, including one sold in Bay Shore at the Exxon gas station at 1490 Fifth Ave. Those tickets are worth $1 million apiece.
Saturday’s $415 million jackpot ranks as the seventh-largest in Powerball history and ninth overall in multistate lottery games in the United States, according to state lottery officials. Its onetime lump sum payout is $269.7 million.
That’s still about $1.2 billion shy of the nation’s record lottery jackpot prize of $1.586 billion.
