Someone hit a jackpot on Long Island.
A winning New York Lottery ticket worth $13.9 million was purchased in Hicksville, the lottery announced in a news release on Thursday. The Lotto ticket was purchased at Lovely Cards and Gifts on South Oyster Bay Road, the release said. No one was available to speak at the store on Thursday.
The winner matched all six numbers from the drawing, which were 4, 11, 23, 38, 41 and 49. The ticket was purchased on Wednesday.
The lottery also announced a second-prize ticket worth $1 million was sold for Wednesday's Powerball drawing at Montauk Highway Gas Corp. in Lindenhurst on West Montauk Highway.
Additionally, several third-prize winners from Wednesday’s Powerball drawing came from Long Island. Businesses in Holtsville, Islandia, Long Beach and Montauk all sold $50,000-winning tickets, another release said.
The winning numbers for the Powerball game are drawn from a field of 1 to 69. The red Powerball is drawn from a separate field of 1 to 26. The Powerball drawing is televised every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
A Powerball player in Arkansas won the $1.817 billion jackpot on Wednesday.
