Freeport Mayor Robert T. Kennedy and several Long Island music scene veterans plan to pay tribute to Lou Reed with a candlelight vigil at Hudsons on the Mile at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow, Newsday's Glenn Gamboa reports. Fans are invited to join in the tribute. Reed, best known as the singer-songwriter of "Walk on the Wild Side," graduated from Freeport High School. He died Sunday in Southampton after a battle with liver disease. Butch Yamali, owner of Hudsons, said in a statement that Reed is considered a Brooklyn guy, but was influenced by Long Island. "We should embrace him as a native son," he said.
