Low visibility causing LaGuardia delays

Some arrivals and departures at area airports continued to be delayed Thursday afternoon, due to continued low visibility.
Arrivals at LaGuardia Airport were being held up an average of 2 hours, 47 minutes, and departures were running from 1 hour, 46 minutes to two hours late, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
At close to 4 p.m. the National Weather Service was reporting overcast skies at LaGuardia and Long Island MacArthur Airport, as well as a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday night.
Some arrivals to Newark International Airport were delayed an average 2 hours, 22 minutes, according to the FAA's website.
Some departures from Kennedy Airport and MacArthur Airport to Newark were averaging delays of about 2 hours, 20 minutes; to LaGuardia, 2 hours, 47 minutes; and to Philadelphia International Airport, 36 minutes.
