There is nothing more irritating than reading reports about gas and oil prices ["We've Had Our Fill, News, Feb. 22].

It is the single biggest scam in the world, and the only one that has an effect on every aspect of human existence. Besides air and water, oil is the only necessity of survival. I am sick of the menu of excuses as to why the cost keeps rising, and tired of paying a fortune to freeze in my own home. Obviously, the greedy hands in this global pie are insatiable, well-calculated and always timed perfectly.

If history repeats itself, we will all continue to live in a chokehold until the big elections in 2012. I expect the White House "fuel magician" will surface again, prices will fall dramatically, and then start to rise shortly thereafter.
