Islip senior Ed Macaluso pitched his first career no-hitter with four strikeouts and two walks for No. 2 Islip (17-3) in an 8-0 win over No. 7 Rocky Point in a Class A quarterfinal game.

"He had his best stuff," Islip coach Pete Blumenauer told Corey McLaughlin. "He only had four strikeouts, which is kind of low for him, but he got a lot of groundballs."

Two of those groundballs were stopped by a diving third baseman, R.J. Going, in the seventh inning. He recorded two putouts for the first two outs and Macaluso struck out the final batter. The win is Macaluso's 25th career win. Tyler Murphy was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Islip, and Wil Vega was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
