Maduro and his wife will be tried in New York or Miami, Trump says
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife will face trial either in New York or Miami.
“Maduro and his wife will soon face the full might of American justice and stand trial on American soil,” Trump said at a Mar-A-Lago news conference this morning. He said the couple is being brought to New York by U.S. authorities, “and then a decision will be made soon between New York and Miami or Florida.”
Trump described Maduro as “the illegitimate dictator” and accused him of being “the kingpin of a vast criminal network responsible for trafficking colossal amounts of deadly and illicit drugs into the United States.”
“Hundreds of thousands, over the years, of Americans died because of him,” Trump said.
