A Freeport man was arrested at the New York State Parole Office in Hempstead on Tuesday, charged with four burglaries in the Freeport area dating back 4 1/2 years - but all tied to him, police said, by blood evidence.

Nassau County Police said Juan Lora, 27, of 240 Main St. was arrested at the parole office at 225 Fulton Ave. at 12:30 p.m.

He was charged with four counts of third-degree burglary - the fourth count coming after he confessed to a fourth burglary, police said.

Police said the burglaries in which Lora is a suspect dated back to August 2005. They include JR Grocery at 103 Church St. on Aug. 29, 2005; Liza's Deli at 76 E. Merrick Rd. on Sept. 25, 2005 and Nov. 4, 2007; and Street Dream at 71 South Main St. on March 19, 2008. Each time, police said, Lora threw a rock through the window, then removed the cash register, stealing an undetermined amount of money.

But blood evidence found at three of the scenes was tied to Lora through analysis at the Department of Forensic Genetics DNA Laboratory on Aug. 18, 2008. Lora is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
